Audience Sketches : "one Witness"

I fell under the charm of this sheet and the virtuosity of his drawing when I made the acquisition before burying it in one of my cartons drawings ... His recent rediscovery did not fade the admiration that I he was wearing it, on the contrary !
These three studies put together on the same sheet make me think that it is one of those sketches of audience where the photographs being prohibited only the draftsmen could seize the course of the trial on the face of the defendants and the witnesses, as here a man in the prime of life with a proud mustache, buttoned vest under the jacket leaning on the bar to give his testimony.
Burnt Sanguine and pencil (for the hand) on a 23 x 30 cm sheet bearing a blue stamp with EM initials interlaced.
Circa 1900/1920, traces of manipulation, very small tear down right, old felt price back (200).
