"Pair Of Large Vases Napoleon III In Bronze (h: 52cm)"
Pair of large 19th century Napoleon III vases in bronze, with partially gilded medal patina, model after * Clodion Louis XVI style with decorated all sides in high relief animated by Putti in Bacchus, handles with rams heads are Linked by golden laurel garlands, the flared collars are topped with gold-leafed pine cones, the set resting on a beaded pedestal with beaded ring and golden laurels ending in a carved black marble counter-base A fluted column and a base in gilded bronze decorated with skates. They each measure 52 cm high X 21 cm wide. * Clodion: pseudonym of Claude Michel (1738 -1814 in Paris) a French sculptor representative of the Rococo style. The original model created in 1770 by Clodion is in marble of 77 cm and preserved in the Wallace Collection in London, then the identical models to these two vases were created in terra cotta around 1773 and are preserved in the Hermitage Museum in Saint PETERSBOURG.
