Pair of Vases. Empire, Early 19th Century

With their baluster shape and their medallion depicting the portrait of happy characters, these two Paris porcelain vases are pretty decorative pieces. In a shimmering palette, gilder and painter have aptly accommodated the tones of matte and burnished gold with stylistic exercises in the style of 17th century Dutch painting. To balance this set in perfect condition, the handles are wound with acanthus leaves and the pedestal rests on a square section base.
