Appay Charles Émile was born June 2, 1876 in St. Justr (Eure) but spent his childhood in Paris in the 15th district. His father was a printer lithographer Charles Appay which explains his taste for art. He was a student of Henri Harpignies (1819-1916) and Paul Lecomte (1842-1920). He married in 1900 and had two children. He was friends with André Derain and they loved biking together. He also loved to go fishing and he often painted river scenes or fishing with his friends. Appay has exhibited her paintings in different gallery Paris: Galerie Georges Petit gallery Pierre Le Chevallier Gallery Jules Gautier P. Hénaut Gallery (Paris) (1928-1934) He also exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1910 to 1920.
