Bronze

Artist: Charles Anfrie
Bronze with brown patina, signed Charles Anfrie (1833-1905), French sculptor known for his many bronzes referring to historical, mythological and everyday life themes. The work, titled on the terrace ''Sur la Brèche'', represents a lieutenant of the 12th regiment of Hussars, easily recognizable by his uniform decorated with frogs. The dashing officer is standing on the edge of a trench, a shell at his feet, binoculars in one hand and his sword in the other. He carefully scans the enemy lines. Testimony of the soldiers at the front, this work, immortalized by the artist, will delight with its charisma and its finely chiselled details.
