The painting is in a good state of legibility and depicts one of the most widespread iconographic subjects in the Christian tradition, namely the Virgin Mary in adoration of the child Jesus; Maria is caught in a tender attitude towards her son who feels safe close to her.
As far as the stylistic data and the chromatic and compositional characteristics are concerned, we are dealing with a work by a talented Umbrian painter of the early 1600s; we can see it from the particular and characteristic style full of details and sweet colors worthy of this subject.
This work shines for its formal rigor of the scene mixed with a casual ease of execution, acute and variegated ideas emerge clearly and range from skilful luminous contrasts to gradually sweeter scenes. The safe tracing of the brush strokes, almost drawn and strongly illuminated, which reveal a graphic preparation and a cultured and composite pictorial conduct, but here also highlights a rich drapery and a sweet and flowery compositional scheme as if the artist had made his own and reworked the concepts of Italian painting that were unfolding at the beginning of this wonderful century for the development of artistic currents.
