Pair Of Important Vases Louis XIV XIXth

Green Campan marble or Green d'Estours, chiseled and gilded bronze.

  This pair of vases is also similar to an architectural decoration by the ample proportions of their design, completely in the spirit of the Louis XIV style, they can therefore participate in the architecture of a hall or an orangery by example, located in niches or placed on balusters. These vases consist of a square marble base bearing the pedestal decorated with a frieze of leaves and gadroons.
The body has a Medici base with wide gadroons, and two moldings between which is embedded a frieze of rich cartouches each enclosing a lion mascaron.
The lion's muzzle handles with a design very inspired by the antique carry heavy rings decorated with berries. The collar marked by a pearl is adorned with swirling strigil grooves bearing a large grip in a berry pattern as well. A quality detail: the strigiles have an inverted movement on the neck of each vase.
