Stunning and monumental cast iron castle fireback, hectic shape, decorated with count's coat of arms supported by 2 greyhounds, from Louis XIV period (late 17th century)
certainly featuring Louis Joseph CHALMETTE (? -1740 ) coat of arms,
Squire Lord of Limiers, Rilly and Villeneuve,King's Secretary (blasons-armoirie.org)
There are also titles Lord of Reboullin and Guillonville (euraldic.com)

Married to Margueritte PASQUIER (?-1726) and father of Antoine Louis Chalmette, Advisor to the Paris Parliament (died after 1726)

"Ecartelé, aux 1 et 4, d'argent, à la croix de Lorraine de sable, aux 2 et 3, de gueules à la tour d'argent maçonnée de sable"
"Quarterly, 1st and 4th, Silver, a sand cross of Lorraine, 2nd and 3rd, Gules, a silver tower masonry with sand"

We mainly find descendants of this noble family line in the departments of Puy de Dôme (63) and Cantal (15), but also in Isère,...

Very large fireplace plaque, Important dimensions: 109cm width and 102cm height
Varibale thickness, from 3 to 5.5cm, because it is made with sand cast

Condition: very well preserved, the reliefs are very largely marked and well lisible because not so uesd with fire, and even has a rare "volume" for a fire plaque of this period and of this size.
