18th century Pair of Italian Neoclassical Lacquered Wood Armchairs
Measurements: cm H 108 x W 73 x D 77, seat cm H 46 x D 51 x W 61
This elegant pair of neoclassical armchairs was made in Genoa, Italy, towards the end of the 18th century. The structure is in carved wood and lacquered in ochre and blue bichrome. The back, ovoid, is in canneté with a painting in the center, in light blue, a four-leaf clover, symbol of Genoa.
The armrests end with a volute from which they are connected to the seat. The seat, also in canneté, is accompanied by a blue velvet cushion. The four truncated legs of inverted cone and grooved originate from a carved and painted nut element with geometric ornamentation. The feet are elongated spherical.
Very decorative and graceful, the armchairs can be placed in any room, exhibited in pairs or individually, next to sofas or consoles and drawers. The light colouring and the classic line make them suitable to be combined with both antique and modern furniture.
