Stained Glass Window The Child And The Butterfly Hunt Signed Ponsin

Stained glass window signed JA Ponsin in cathedral glass, painted in grisaille and enamels, representing a child chasing a butterfly. Inside the stylizing edge of the bamboo, the cathedral glass is translucent. In the upper part, branches of clematis and a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. Edge slightly tinted. Oak frame. In a perfect state. Joseph-Albert Ponsin (1842-1899) nicknamed the “Vitrarius”, actor and songwriter, became a recognized master glassmaker in the last quarter of the 19th century. He notably created stained glass windows for Sarah Bernhardt's private mansion, rue Fortuny. In 1879, Joseph-Albert Ponsin commissioned Alfred Boland to build a neo-Renaissance mansion at 42 on the same street. Spacious, the hotel concentrated several functions with living spaces, the workshop and the exhibition spaces.
