Superb oil on canvas measuring 40cm x 67cm plus frame 57cm x 82cm Good condition signed and dated V.COURDOUAN 82 lower left Vincent Courdouan and a very great painter from Toulon and one of the greatest naturalist painters of the end of the 19th century He also excelled well in oil than in pastel, watercolor and pencil His works are more and more sought after for the testimony they represent of our coasts of the 19th century His works appear in major Museums A very large retrospective exhibition was held in 2001 in Toulon free shipping worldwide Vincent Courdouan is considered the leader of the Provençal school (Toulon school): He is not only a great marine painter, a landscape painter of the hinterland and the coast Varois but also an orientalist painter and above all an emeritus draftsman. The catalog of his works lists 170 drawings and charcoals, 115 watercolors and gouaches, 145 pastels and 175 oils.
