Louis XV period backgammon table by Denis-Louis Ancellet. Tric-trac table from the Louis XV period, rectangular shape in solid mahogany wood and Cuban mahogany veneers, ebony veneer, natural and tinted ivory inlays on oak and resinous core. Rectangular quadrilateral in shape, its belt opens on its longitudinal parts by two drawers, head to tail on either side of it. A tray inlaid with a checkerboard slides into a cavity reserved for this purpose in the lower part of the latter. A reversible mobile top surrounded by a mahogany gallery forming a stopper caps the table. The top of this one acting as a desk is veneered with a dark mahogany frame of a gilded Havana morocco with small irons on its reverse, is stretched with a playing mat in order to shuffle the cards and getter the dice. Once the tray has been deposited, a tank with two compartments is revealed in order to practice games of backgammon or backgammon. The tray inlaid with a checkerboard is positioned in a light touch above these in order to indulge in the game of checkers.
