Line Vautrin Brooch In Gilt Bronze, Talosels And Glass Beads
Artist: Line Vautrin
Line VAUTRIN (1913 - 1997) is a world famous French artist and designer of jewelry and decorative objects. Daughter of an art bronzier, she revealed herself to be a precocious artist, who would show herself to be original and independent with respect to the artistic conventions of her time. Revealed by her jewelry collection during the Universal Exhibition of 1937, which enabled her in particular to open a boutique on the Champs Elysées, she has since created unique, strong, very identifiable pieces, imbued with freedom, imagination. , lyricism and poetry, but also playfulness and humour, referring to poems, concepts, hidden, suggested or engraved messages... Particularly innovative, she created a new material: "talosel", that we find on many of her works, including the particularly sought-after "witch mirrors". The invention of this material and its creative universe earned her the nickname of "poetess of metal".
We present here a brooch from the 60s, in gilded bronze, decorated with a cascade of glass beads and talosels. These bring that special, deep, color-changing light and glow. The highlight is a pyramid-shaped tassel adorned with particularly luminous cracked talosels.
An important collection of jewelry by this artist is presented and visible in our shop.
