Aquamarine Cocktail Ring On Rose Gold, 1950s

A 1950s ring in 18k rose gold (750/°°, eagle's head hallmark), set in its center with a large 20-carat rectangular-cut aquamarine. This stone displays a particularly rich color, reminiscent of the finest aquamarines from the Santa Maria mine in Brazil. Its particularly successful cut and crystallization give it great vibrancy. The substantial size of the stone and the setting makes it a so-called "cocktail" ring, and therefore particularly striking. This high-quality stone is set as a solitaire, enhanced by a sophisticated and richly crafted mount: the setting, with its finely crafted claw-like prongs, is followed by a twisted wire and a platform made up of alternating arches and spheres, creating extraordinary relief around the stone. The band itself is richly worked around an airy vegetal theme that continues around the entire circumference and joins a basket crafted from wires and arabesques. The ring's significant volume is curved to fit the finger comfortably and perfectly ergonomically. Note: as with any large stone of this rectangular cut, the lighter effect in the center of the stone, visible from certain angles, is due to the photography. Since colored gemstones are designed to be worn, their appearance and quality are best appreciated on the finger.
