High Pewter Vase
Artist: P. Jean
Important pewter soliflore from the Art Nouveau period signed P.Jean. This vase with curved contours and a strongly pronounced elliptical body has a flared and turbulent pouring spout from which trickles of water emerge on the sides. The walls of this elegant vase are sculpted with lilies, narcissus and foliage in relief, perfectly executed. Clinging to a stem, a young girl rests leaning forward on the large belly of the vase. She holds in her left hand a water lily which she looks at intensely. Lightly dressed in a drape, the graceful young lady reveals a childish face surrounded by soft hair held in a bun. Poetic and charming, this unique work will delight lovers of delicate and romantic decorations.
