Officer's travel clock called Capucine in the shape of a rectangular quadrilateral in the form of a polished brass cage, it opens with two side doors revealing the movement and a door at the back revealing the escapement. Each of the angles is flanked by small reels called jiggers, in the center two superimposed stamps, topped with a mobile handle in the shape of rings to facilitate its movement. The white enamel dial marked with Roman numerals is signed by Robert à Nismes; these needles are eccentric trilobed. The dial is enclosed in a gilded bronze bezel encircled with chiseled pearls, spokes of leaves in bundles. The set rests on four spinning top legs. Our nasturtium is equipped with a movement also in brass. It is equipped with a striking mechanism for hours, halves and quarters. Its escapement is cylinder with spiral balance. This system without pendular balance being more conducive to its primary purpose of travel in order to facilitate its transport. Our coachbuilt comes with its original key. A little nod to history Napoleon offered this type of clock to each of his officers so that they would be punctual. Robert in Nismes is mentioned in Tardy's Dictionary of French Watchmakers, page 557. Dimensions: Height 29.9 cm - Width 12.9 cm at the feet and 11.8 cm at the cage - Depth 8.4 cm at the feet and 7.4 cm at the cage. A certificate from our watchmaker, certifying that this overcab has been completely checked and repaired. In particular, flattening of the mechanism, cleaning then repairing, restoration of the balance spring and rectification of the striking wheel, not forgetting; test and adjustment dated January 21, 2021.
