"Double Inkwell, Napoleon III Period - Mid-19th Century"
Important Inkwell with double receptacle, consisting of a red cherry marble base from the Pyrenees, flared in its front part to serve as a pen rest. On each side are two gilt bronze inkwells entirely chiselled with very fine motifs, depicting palmettes and friezes. Their top easily lifts thanks to their pine cone-shaped pull button, revealing a cavity intended to receive the container for the ink, one of which is missing. In the center, on a small marble base surmounted by a gilded bronze element, rests a bust of Napoleon with a brown patina: this is removable, and initially served as a seal holder in order to affix the wax seal that sealed The mails. This beautiful object will elegantly dress up your office, while bringing a historical touch to your decoration.
