Portrait Of The Marquis De La Tour Du Pin, French Aristocrat, Knight Of Saint Louis - Circa 1750
18th century French School, large portrait of an officer wearing a red uniform. On the necklace of his dog is engraved the coat of arms of the de la Tour du Pin Family, one of the most famous families in the French aristocracy. A long analysis and discussions with experts showed it is Philippe, Marquis de la Tour du Pin and Marquis de Gouvernet (1723-1794). Our oil on canvas is presented in an 18th century carved and gilt wood frame, early Louis XV period.
The painting is in very condition, with old restorations. Superb carved and gilded wood frame (Louis XV period), gold leaf gilt cleaned by our gilder.
