Old mask "goli glin" baulé Ivory Coast. hardwood, old patina of use, red, black and white pigments, small accidents. H: 50 cm Note that the dentition is an independent carved wooden plate fixed with dowels. The goli mask is directly linked to the festivities of the same name (there are four main festivals among the Baulé: gba gba, bonu amen, mblo and goli). The "goli" celebrates new harvests, visits from important people and times of mourning. Originally, this masked tradition was borrowed from the Wan, a group related to the Gouro. Three types of masks are worn and appear successively during the festivities
