"Bernard Buffet (1928-1999), Barque à Lomener, 1982, Original Lithograph Signed And Numbered"
Rare proof in superb condition, the lithographic work of Bernard Buffet being highly sought after and highly rated, in particular his Breton work, and particularly his lithographic work - landscape - richly enhanced in color. Work produced by Bernard Buffet in 1982, signed and justified with his hand in pencil by the artist, referenced n ° 417 in the catalog raisonné by Charles Sorlier, Bernard Buffet lithographer, vol. II. An outstanding post-war artist, Buffet reinvents the landscape with as much stubbornness as the more serial genre of still life and clownish vanity he invented. Its black, horizontal and vertical hatching, so identifiable, streaks the small Morbihan port of Lomener, near Larmor beach, the postcard becomes denser, the seaside is adorned with a tragic aura. Behind the monochrome, however, pierces the “lime-like” white of the Breton facades, the raw blue of the sky, the lush green of a meadow in the distance, the shimmering red of the boat in the foreground. And so the life after (the memory of) the war.
