The joys of winter, oil on wood dimensions, 64 cm x 48 cm, with the frame 78 cm x 62 cm, attributed to Antonie Beerstraten, Holland 17th century. Antonie Beerstraten is a painter of the Golden Age of Dutch painting, active in Amsterdam from 1639 to 1665. He is the brother of Jan Abrahamsz Beerstraten who like him specialized in winter landscapes and therefore scenes with skaters. In his paintings he represents all categories of Dutch society, from elegant and wealthy couples to ordinary workers and peasants. Our table is a good example.
