"Bronze Seals Representing "john Who Laughs John Who Weeps" After Houdon, 19th Century"
Rare and beautiful suite of six bronze sculptures representing "Jean qui rit Jean qui pleure" after the work of the sculptor Houdon, dating from the 19th century around 1850. Two of the six small busts have the shape of seals for wax seal and the other four mounted on two black marble columns and two others on a red cherry marble plinth. A great expression and a great finesse of execution are to be noted throughout the collection as well as a beautiful brown and golden patina. Private collection. In perfect condition. Dimensions: Bronze: h. 8 cm.
