Beautiful luminous work by the painter Charles Malfroy which represents a view of the port and avenue Victor Hugo in Cassis at the end of the 19th century. We can also see the Quai des Baux as well as the facade of the Liautaud hotel.

Originally from Lyon, Charles Malfroy set up his painting studio in Martigues called the "Venice of Provence". He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1891 and 1894. His submissions of Mediterranean landscapes with cheerful tones at regional exhibitions were awarded by the jury and greatly appreciated by collectors.
The artist creates views of small Mediterranean ports: Martigues, Cassis, Les Lecques, Bandol .. His son Henry Malfroy, also a painter, will take over his studio in Martigues.

Dimensions: 38 x 46 cm without frame and 62.5 x 70.5 cm with its original golden frame.
