A beautiful, luminous work with strong contrasts by the Corsican-born painter Max Agostini, depicting a bouquet of flowers, most likely daisies or anemones, in a vase on a tabletop.
The artist uses a palette of bright and vibrant colors, bringing his work to life.
A leading figure among contemporary Impressionists, the painter Max Agostini was born in Paris in 1914, of Corsican origin through his grandparents. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and discovered a true talent for Impressionism. Drafted into the French Army for five years at the beginning of World War II, Max Agostini was taken prisoner for three years.
In the post-war period, he distinguished himself as an excellent portrait and landscape painter in Châteauroux, where he worked for several years. Later, he settled in Gargilesse in the Berry region and in Provence.
In January 1997, he was still painting his finest canvases just days before his hospitalization.
He is recognized worldwide as one of the greatest colorists of his time.
Dimensions: 46 x 55 cm unframed and 65 x 74 cm with its original giltwood frame.
