"Directed By Aaron Hinojosa (1958-2018) - Mixed Media - 20th Century - Vintage"
Sublime work of AARON HINOJOSA (1958-2018), it is a work made in mixed technique, collage of fabrics and plastic.

Period: XXth
Circa: 1989
Measures: H: 100 x W: 100cm

Born in the city of Oaxaca in Mexico, Aaron Hinojosa spent part of his childhood in San Cristobal de las Casas in the state of Chiapas.
It is difficult for him to follow his education because he has to provide for his family.

In the morning, he goes to school and in the afternoon we find him on the creative market where he works as a shoe shiner.
These years spent in contact with artists will probably have influenced his future life.

In 1977, at the age of 19, the weariness of his daily life and the desire to discover other horizons pushed him to emigrate to Europe.
He arrives in London then leaves for Aix en Provence via Paris. Illegal, undocumented, he survives thanks to various odd jobs and his talents as a singer and guitarist.

One day, he knocks on the door of Fine Arts where he meets Professor Vincent Bioulès who is a French painter and one of the founding members of the “Supports / Surfaces” group (an artistic movement which was one of the founding groups of art. contemporary French, both in painting and sculpture), he offered to take him under his wing.

He then left for Lyon where he decided to put down his suitcases permanently. The people of Lyon buy many of his small papier-mâché sculptures from him, which he sells at a ridiculous price.

In his small workshop, he works all day, surrounded by his friends or his children who are a source of inspiration for him. His works are a reflection of his personality, both simple and complex.

We find in his work the warmth of the colors of his native Mexico, as well as the naive style characteristic of a part of Central American craftsmanship.

To make his creations, he mainly uses salvaged material, because he said "I have no money".
