Gabriel Venet was a well-known and highly regarded figurative painter: born in Saint-Quentin in 1884 and deceased in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1954, he was a student of Louis-François Biloul. In 1938, he founded the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montbard, where he served as the first curator. His works are held in several French museums, including those in Dijon, Caen, Amiens, and Saint-Quentin.
