Pencil drawing on paper attributed to Sebastiano Ricci, probably executed in the early 18th century.
The subject of the work is “The Assumption and Coronation of the Blessed Virgin”. The drawing shows a partially faded line, which partly compromises its legibility. On the reverse are traces suggesting that it originally belonged to an album.
Examination under UV light revealed a watermark with a symbol or monogram referring to the Bologna area, datable between the late 17th and early 18th century. The work has been described and attributed by art historian Agata Keran.
The sheet is in good overall condition, with some humidity stains and age-related yellowing. It is presented in a wooden frame from the early 19th century, with hand-blown glass.
