Majolica Plaque Castelli XVII Sacrifice Lamb By Abel, Hard Stone Frame
Stunning ceramic plate depicting a historiated / biblical scene: the sacrifice of his lamb by Abel, CASTELLI XVIIth century
This plate was made from an annonymous Italian engraving from the end of the 16th century.
Note also another plate very similar in its composition with Cain in the background, a pendant from the history of this passage from the Bible. See photos n0 3 and 4.
Condition: note 2 tiny enamel swings in the upper left and lower right coins, mostly hidden by the frame.
Sizes 27*19.5cm for the plate and 48.5*40cm with its frame. Blackened and carved wood frame with hard stone inlays (lapis lazzuli, Siena and Lepento red marbles)
