Fine terracotta sculpture depicting a crying child, signed by the Florentine master Alimondo Ciampi (1887–1939). The work, dating from the early 20th century, exemplifies the artist’s sensitivity and the poetic realism that characterize his production.
Ciampi was a sculptor and medallist, pupil of Domenico Trentacoste at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. He took part in five editions of the Venice Biennale, from 1909 to 1924, and exhibited widely in Italy and abroad. Several of his works are now preserved in important museums and private collections.
His prolific output includes sculptures in plaster, terracotta, bronze, and marble, often depicting female nudes, busts of men, women, and children. Ciampi’s style combines harmony of line and simplicity of composition, remaining faithful to nature while imbuing his figures with lyrical intensity.
The sculpture is signed "Alimondo Ciampi".
