Dante Alighieri (1265/1371) is a Florence-born poet, writer, author of the Divine Comedy, considered one of the major figures of Italian literature. The bronze statue is signed Affortunato Gory active sculptor from the late 19th to the beginning of the 20th century (Art-New and Art-Deco period), born in Florence, pupil of Augusto Rivalta he is in Paris around 1900 and exhibits his works at the Salon des Artists Français from 1904 to 1923.
