Pair Of 18th Century Paintings Representative Of Animated Village Scenes
Superb and rare pair of oil paintings on canvas from the XVIIIth century depicting annimated village scenes. We see on one a characters standing on a basket holding in his hand a document that he transmits to the people around him. A gentleman looking at him all against an architectural background. On the other painting, a peddler accompanied by a woman carrying an infant is in front of a painting representing different landscapes presented as a game, is in the process of distributing notebooks. All the paintings of good quality show everyday scenes, with characters in period clothes, the colors remained bright and luminous. The set is presented in contemporary gilt wood frames. Beautiful set, original and of rare quality in pair.
