A magnificent mail clip to put on the desk of a possible shipowner or as a paperweight or to screw on the wall next to the front door so as not to lose the letters. Very finely chiseled and silvered bronze. Powerful spring in perfect condition. Genuine lazuli lapiz and decorative pearl. This accessory, little used in the 19th century, as well as the mail binders or the marvelous Vienna bronze character bells, also stood next to the traditional marble inkwell to decorate the desk of any honest man.
