The painting, made in oil on canvas, depicts a still life with a lush composition of fruit lying in an open space with wooden barrels, wicker baskets and architectural elements. The work is clearly attributable to Pietro Navarra, an artist active in Rome from 1685 to 1714. Ulysses and Gianluca Bocchi, whose work helps to define the style and the artistic path of Navarre, are responsible for the artist’s latest studies on painting. An eclectic painter, a pupil of Franz Werner von Tamm (Hamburg, 1658 - Vienna, 1724) and Christian Berentz, from Hamburg, who was active in Rome in the first twenty years of the eighteenth century, he distinguished himself for the depiction of still lifes.
