Buddha seated in Bhumisparsa mùdra (or gesture of taking the earth as witness.) Buddha calls the goddess of the earth to testify that he has definitively overcome the fears and temptations sent by Mara , the demon of illusion. He thus attains enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. Burma, region of Mandalay, the last capital of the kingdom under the Konbaung dynasty. Bronze with medal patina; Circa 1860.
