"Hungarian Painting Circa 1905: "the Newsboy""
“The Newsboy” Hungarian school circa 1905, oil on canvas 150 X 90 cm, mounted in a large modern gilt frame 166 X 116.This extraordinary painting is worthy of the greatest museums.
The Friss Ujsag newspaper is a Magyar language daily newspaper still published today on Hungary and Romania. He regularly commissioned artists to produce a painting on the theme of the newsboy, which was then declined in a large advertising poster.
Here we have the original which, after use, was finalized as a painting by repainting the lower text as an extension of the image, which can still be seen in frizzy light. I also seem to distinguish a trace of signature and a date 190 ?.
With a touch of incredible modernity, close to other European movements of the same period such as the Catalan School (how can we not think of Nonell?) Or on the contrary, northern countries such as Finland.
The last two photos show other Hungarian posters on the same theme.
Relined, modern frame, extremely powerful and decorative.
