it is a very beautiful Napoleon III period brooch decorated with an imposing two-layer cameo carved in very high relief.
the young vestal is superb and appears to us the bust turned by three quarters, the smiling face, the almond-shaped eyes, the hair styled in the antique style and carrying a fine garland of flowers in her hairstyle, perhaps roses.
the details are superb, the face is very finely executed and the dress has a beautiful drape in the antique, the pleated is beautifully worked.
the cameo is sculpted in very high relief, the face of the vestal stands out in a thick layer of white agate almost 2 cm thick and it rests on a layer of orange agate forming the background. A beautiful cameo with such relief it is really a very nice work of glyptic.
this cameo and st mounted in a 750/00 gold brooch, in Etruscan taste decorated with 16 pink stones in cabochons alternating with black enamel beads.
