Pewter Hanap Coat Of Arms Burle Family, Master Potter Laurent Morand Lyon, Circa 1711-1726
Superb pewter Hanap or ewer helmet -cause in the shape of an overturned helmet, Louis XV period with the BURLE family county coat of arms engraved, hallmarks of master Lyonnais potter received master in 1691, and another hallmark with date 1711 and its origin city of Lyon. ;
"Lyonnais master potter's punches Laurent MORANT received master in 1664 , and another punch bearing the date 1711 and its origin city of Lyon. This date of 1711 is most likely the date on which he remade his punch. The 1691 control punch doesn't generally allow for dating the tins because the regulations have been misunderstood or little followed, and this vintage has been used in some centres much of the 18th century. The ewer can therefore by deduction be dated between 1711 and 1726."
My thanks to Mr JC COMMENCHAL for his expertise and valuable information !
Coat of arms: "Silver, to the strip of Azure, loaded with 3 golden rings and accosted by 2 trefoil crosses and overturned Gules, at the foot of the plug."
Very good condition and nice patina
