Antonio Corpora, Italian painter was born in Tunis in 1909.
He studied art at the School of Fine Arts in Tunis under the direction of Jean Antoine Armand Vergeaud (1876-1949).
In 1929, he exhibited his first paintings at the Tunisian Salon.
In 1930 he went to Florence to study and copy ancient paintings.
In 1931, he moved to Paris where he met Alberto Giacometti.
In 1932 he moved to Italy and moved to Rome.
Antonio Corpora participates in the formation of the Group of Four with Moses Levy, Pierre Boucherie and Jules Lellouche, a group that constitutes, after the war, the future Tunisian postcolonial artistic movement of the School of Tunis. After the war, he joined the Neo-cubist artistic movement of Rome and the Fonte nuovo delle arti. He participates in the 26th Venice Biennale.
In 1948, he moved towards abstract art and expressionism. .Corpora exhibited four times at the Venice Biennale between 1948 and 1956. In 1968, he exhibited at both the Venice Biennale and the Biennale of Rome and won both awards for these two biennials.
The main works of Antonio Corpora are preserved in many museums of modern art.
