M. G. Poncelet : "the Ambulant Musicians"

Maurice Georges Poncelet was born in Mulhouse in 1897 and was therefore contemporary with all the movements of Modern Art to which he contributed with paintings both colorful and deaf in a touch that is reminiscent of many artists of the world. School of Paris as Edmond Heuzé with whom he shares the taste of the circus or Dietz Edzard.
Familiar with the Salons, he was always favored by collectors, but his death in 1978 made him a little forgetful and deserves to be rediscovered. The works that I present today, variations on the same theme of the Traveling Musicians are annotated "studies" and signed, one on free canvas 53 X 76 cm (painted surface 45 X 73 cm) just stapled on a cardboard, another, mounted on chassis 50 X 73 cm, unfortunately very uneven.
The first presents a woman behind a donkey holding a child in her arms while the musicians (violin, clarinet and double bass) play, on the second there is only one violinist in pink leotard remembering Picasso ...
Both are very dirty, the one mounted on chassis must be completely reattached and has significant gaps.
