Large Persian Rug Kirman Royal

Entirely knotted by hand, pure wool, vegetable dyes, size: 410cmX290cm. The carpet of Kirman is a type of Persian carpet. The reputation of Kerman's carpets is due, in part, to the excellence of the (ostad) cardboard designers, who are very skilful and who have kept the sense of tradition. The patterns sometimes reveal a Western influence. Indeed, at the beginning of the twentieth century, rich importers of carpets financed workshops in which the masters subsequently adapted their cartons to the tastes of Westerners. There are four qualities of Kerman carpet: 70, 80, 90, 100. These figures correspond to the number of threads in a ghireh (= 7 cm). Quality mats 70 thus contain 2,500 knots / dm2. The Kerman is always with flowers and most of the time has a medallion which stands out on a plain background. The motifs of the medallion are included in the border and the four corners (corners). Sometimes the decor of the field reveals the influence of miniaturists in carpets with plant and animal decoration, more rarely hunting scenes. The boteh (almond-shaped pattern) is often used. The classical border is composed of a central band and two secondary bands.
