The emperor is represented as a bourgeois. This portrait is presumably a portrait of youth made by the Austrian artist Eduard Ender in 1835. It was inspired by a work by his father Johann Nepomuk Ender, kept at the Albertina, who represented the seated emperor at his desk the same year. The inscription (in the ink on the lower right: "Eduard Ender gezeichnet dem 19 März 1835") was probably written by Eduard's father or by Franz Xaver Stöber, his uncle, impressed by the quality of his work. portrait of the young artist.
