Jean-Baptiste Isabey, born in Nancy on April 11, 1767 and died in Paris on April 18, 1855 (aged 88), is a French portraitist and miniaturist. At the time of the great historical painting, Isabey practiced the art of miniature painting. He knows success, both under the First Empire and the diplomats of the Congress of Vienna. He is the father of Eugene Isabey, painter, draftsman and engraver equally famous of the Second Empire.
