Painted Porcelain Vase, Japan, Late 18th Century - Early 19th Century

Painted porcelain vase, Japan, late 18th century - early 19th century

The elegant vase, made of white porcelain painted in shades of blue, was made in Japan between the late eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century.
The vase, with a circular base, with trumpet neck, has a geometric decoration in the lower band that recalls phytomorphic elements. The remaining surface presents refined female figures with traits, hairstyle and clothing characteristic of Japan in an oriental garden rich in vegetation, plants and flowers peculiar to the japanese area.
Its asymmetric and slightly deformed shape is due to an imperfection occurred during the cooking phase. The vase is in good condition.
A distinctly decorative object, it looks very contemporary and modern, easily placed in any environment.
