Carved Wood - India 17th Or 18th Century
Subject: Represents a female character standing. This sculpture is however stylistically Chinese. Indeed: round head, slanted eyes, nates in the hair, small bun, wide dress. This brings us back to the sartorial aspects of ancient China still found in the state of Kerala (India, south-west coast of Deccan), which was occupied by many Chinese once and still today.
