Signed lower left: J Caron
Jules Caron was born in 1806 in Paris. He moved to Bordeaux in 1850, then to Arcachon in 1852. It was then that he received an order from hotelier Gailhard to decorate his casino in Eyrac. He painted mainly on the motif, in the manner of Barbizonian painters. His painting, full of sensitivity, is noticed by the rich landowner Adalbert Deganne who becomes his patron and gives him several orders. He also participates to the Salon de Bordeaux. He mainly paints life scenes of the Bassin d'Arcachon (scenes of fishing, marine ...) as well as landscapes of the coast and the beauty of nature, as is the case on this still life.
An exhibition was dedicated to him in 2017 in Arcachon.
