18th-century Console Table Or "lamp Base"
A very beautiful Louis XV-era console table, also known as a “cul de lampe,” featuring bronze fittings decorated with the mask of Bacchus.
This console table could easily be mounted on the wall to serve as a stand for a bronze sculpture or a bust.
Superb violet wood veneer with gilded bronze ornamentation featuring fine chiseled work of the “C Couronné” (see photo)—a mark stamped on the bronzes and copperwork between 1745 and 1749.
The back of the frame still has its two period iron hooks and their wrought-iron nails.
Very decorative!
