Stamped Transition-style In-between Bookcase
Artist: Guillaume Caze
A very refined small bookcase, an open mahogany bookcase curved on three sides, stamped “Guillaume Caze” (a 19th-century Parisian cabinetmaker). It rests on four arched legs ending in bronze feet gilded with mercury. The curved front is open and features two arbalète-style shelves accented with bronze along the edges. The lower section houses a curved drawer with ornate gilded bronze handles. The top echoes the curve of the front; it consists of a beautiful slab of quartz-veined marble, framed by a gilded bronze mold. The curved, bulging sides are accented with light-colored marquetry bands.
This small bookcase is in excellent condition, with a buffed varnish finish; it has never been restored, and the marble is in perfect condition!
