Large Monastery Table Made Of Solid Reclaimed Elm – Haute époque Style – 20th Century
A very significant “Haute Époque” community table, crafted in the mid-20th century from antique beams and structural timber made of solid elm. The use of this centuries-old reclaimed wood gives the tabletop perfect stability and an exceptional patina. The wood, having dried and aged naturally over the centuries, reveals dramatic grain patterns, prominent knots, and surface irregularities that give this piece a unique character and a highly sought-after raw charm (Brutalist/rustic style). The edges of the tabletop retain their natural, irregular contours. The base consists of two sturdy lyre-shaped legs, hollowed out with multi-lobed clover-shaped cutouts characteristic of refectory or castle tables. They are securely connected by a central crossbar with a key-shaped joint. This crossbar is carved in the center with the commemorative date “1592,” a historical nod to the era that inspired its creation. A highly sturdy piece, ideal for contemporary interiors, country estates, or decor projects focused on raw materials. Technical Specifications:
