Maurice Pellerier, Oil On Canvas, "snow In Vic-sur-cère"
Painting, oil on canvas, depicting a view of the snow-covered village of Vic-sur-Cère in the Cantal department, featuring a merchant walking through the snow with a sack slung over his shoulder.
The technique, featuring thick brushstrokes applied with a palette knife or brush, lends a beautiful sense of depth to this rustic landscape.
Maurice Pellerier chose to work directly on the canvas, leaving it unprimed in places. The unpainted areas highlight the harsh hues of winter. This “reserve” painting technique creates contrast and contributes to the composition of the painting.
