Large Louis XVI-style Trumeau Mirror In Rechampi And Gilded Wood – 19th Century
This beautifully proportioned piece features a rectangular frame made of lacquered wood (rechampi) in a soft shade of gray-blue, offering a refined contrast to its rich ornamentation of stucco gilded with gold leaf. The upper section (the pediment) is superbly embellished with a large suspended ribbon bow, holding in place a prominent central wreath from which flow generous and elegant garlands of flowers draped in folds. The central mirror is set within a curved arcade, highlighted by a double gilded molding decorated with pearls and heart-shaped rays. The pilaster-style side posts are adorned at the top with cascades of acanthus leaves and finely carved flower buds. This colorful and luminous decorative piece will perfectly adorn the top of a fireplace or a hallway. Item Details:
